Hakbang ng Maisug Convenor Atty. Vic Rodriguez warned that legislative efforts to extend the terms of barangay officials pose a threat to effective local governance.
Rodriguez urged the public to stay vigilant as postponement bills advance in both houses of Congress.
He noted that Senate President Chiz Escudero filed a proposal in the Senate while a counterpart group of lawmakers introduced similar legislation in the House of Representatives.
Rodriguez stressed that extended terms should not be granted indiscriminately, pointing out that not all incumbent local officials are serving their communities effectively.
