CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Barangay 23 Captain Jaime Joshua Frias II suggested weighing both sides of the proposed extension of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials’ terms.
He said that while term extensions reward hardworking leaders, they can be a waste of time and a burden for residents if the incumbent fails to serve effectively.
Frias reminded constituents not to worry about governance since the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) enforces rules to ensure quality service regardless of whether elections proceed or are postponed.
He emphasized that since the 2013 elections, this principle has stood, and ultimately, the people decide whether their officials deserve an extended term.
