Lay Theologian Wilson C. Amad called for the abolition of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), citing long-standing delays in serving Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities.
Amad cited the case of the Claveria Higaonon Tribal Council, whose ancestral domain application has remained pending since 1994, leading to the death of Datu Maluluy-on after two decades of unfulfilled Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT) processing.
Amad argued that the agency has proven ineffective at preventing indigenous displacement from ancestral lands and urged direct government intervention to resolve indigenous land rights.
