Former Philippine Association of Law Schools President Atty. Teodoro Pastrana criticized House Prosecutor Chel Diokno’s argument that Vice President Sara Duterte’s defense must await a final trial outcome before seeking Supreme Court intervention against alleged procedural violations.
Pastrana emphasized that constitutional due process and the presumption of innocence permit aggrieved parties to challenge unconstitutional proceedings at any stage.
He expressed concern over discarding fundamental legal principles routinely taught in baseline legal education.
