Federation of Free Workers President Atty. Sonny Matula explained that the House prosecutorial panel opted to truncate former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s testimony to prevent introducing evidence that might violate bank secrecy laws.

Matula invoked the “fruit of the poisonous tree” doctrine, stating that relying on improperly obtained evidence could compromise the prosecution’s case.

He added that calling Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) officials and bank representatives with direct knowledge of financial records provides a legally sound strategy for the impeachment court.
