Atty. Pat Trimor of Trimor Law Office criticized the prosecution’s submission of over twenty boxes of bank records in the Vice President’s impeachment trial, describing the evidence drive as an improper “fishing expedition.”
Trimor argued that the core legal issue pertains strictly to the alleged ₱125-million confidential fund allocation and does not justify inspecting unrelated personal accounts.
He noted that foreign currency deposits carry statutory protection, while peso-denominated accounts require specific orders from the Impeachment Court.
He added that denying defense counsel adequate time to inspect the voluminous documents compromises fundamental due process guarantees.
