Hakbang ng Maisug official Ben Contreras characterized the prosecution’s focus on alleged Chinese funding in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte as a partisan double standard.
Contreras argued that critics aggressively target business ties with China while remaining silent on financial influence and support originating from the United States.
He asserted that attacks against the Duterte family stem from pro-U.S. factions seeking to prevent pragmatic foreign policy leadership, adding that strained relations with China negatively affect Philippine economic growth and tourism.
