Cagayan de Oro City Council Member Eric Salcedo praised Mayor Rolando Uy’s vision in pursuing the ₱8.5-billion loan for the Uptown Government Complex, noting that previous municipal administrations had long planned the relocation.
Salcedo recalled that past infrastructure loans—including those for the Cogon and Carmen public markets, the city diversion road, flyovers, and the public library—initially faced public criticism but ultimately delivered long-term civic benefits.
He added that consolidating municipal offices Uptown will alleviate downtown traffic and establish an efficient one-stop service center.
