Anti-war advocate Herman Tiu Laurel highlighted recent survey data from Pew Research indicating that 40 percent of Filipinos overall and 47 percent of young adults aged 18 to 35 view China favorably, contradicting the administration’s vocal stance.
Laurel asserted that public opinion among younger demographics demonstrates a preference for maintaining stable bilateral economic and trade relations over escalating geopolitical friction.
He urged government leadership to prioritize economic cooperation and commercial partnerships that support domestic growth rather than pursuing confrontational foreign policy positions.
