“Accountability is universal”—this was the explanation of former CDO City Mayor and Xavier University Law Professor Atty. Oscar Moreno regarding Vice President Sara Duterte’s remaining high ratings amid her ongoing impeachment trial.
The lawyer explained that no one is exempt from accountability, whether popular with the masses or not.
However, he pointed out that the true measure of an impeachment is whether an official is still fit or appropriate to continue holding office.
He added that accountability rests not only with the vice president, but also with the president and everyone serving in the government.
He stated that a lack of accountability at high levels of government can affect and heavily impact citizens who rely on proper public services.
