Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines Chairperson Ruby Bernardo criticized the government’s treatment of public school teachers during National Teachers’ Month, citing low compensation and election-related duties.
Bernardo demanded adequate compensation for teachers serving in local elections and called for the elimination of non-teaching administrative tasks.
The organization reiterated its advocacy for a ₱50,000 entry-level salary for public and private school teachers, while urging Congress to restore the ₱44.5 billion reduction in the proposed 2027 education budget allocated for textbooks and school feeding programs.
