The Akbayan Youth groups in Iligan and Lanao expressed strong opposition to the proposed privatization of the Agus-Pulangi Hydroelectric Complex.
Jhune Ace A. Lubang, Chairperson of the organization, warned that the move would have a heavy impact on consumers due to the expected ₱2 increase per kilowatt in electricity rates.
He explained that this would not only burden residents but also raise the prices of goods and services as energy costs rise.Lubang underscored the importance of listening to the voice of the people on this issue.
He further called for the protection of the interests of future generations against privatization, which he believes could harm their prospects.
