AMIHAN National Federation of Peasant Women Representative Cathy Estavillo called for the resignation of Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., citing a lack of preparation for Super El Niño impacts.
Estavillo noted that despite early climate advisories from PAGASA, the agriculture department failed to deploy proactive measures, resulting in crop damage and higher retail food prices.
She urged national leaders to implement direct agricultural support programs to protect local food production.
