Anti-war advocate Ben Tiu Contreras raised severe concerns regarding the requested 6,000-hectare land allocation for the proposed American-backed “Pax Silica” project.

Contreras warned that dedicating such a vast area to foreign operations could undermine national sovereignty while putting immense pressure on local water and power supplies.

Citing his own research, he pointed out that residents in North Carolina, USA, previously opposed a similar initiative due to environmental and resource impacts.

Contreras questioned why the national government continues to push for foreign infrastructure projects when basic utility services remain inadequate for ordinary citizens.
