Former IBP Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro President Atty. Eddie Cuaresma supported calculating the constitutional two-thirds vote in the Vice President’s impeachment trial based on participating senators present during proceedings.
Cuaresma stated that excluding absent or legally incapacitated senators ensures that judges evaluating evidence cast the final verdict.
Citing support for attendance-based calculations from former Chief Justices Reynato Puno, Artemio Panganiban, and Hilario Davide Jr.,
Cuaresma advised the public to remain calm and allow the Vice President to present her formal defense during trial hearings.
