Hakbang ng Maisug Convenor Atty. Vic Rodriguez dismissed the justifications cited by lawmakers to postpone the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, calling them absurd.
The legal expert argued that citing reasons such as energy emergencies or the geopolitical conflict between the US and Iran to suspend local elections in barangays and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region is unacceptable.
Rodriguez criticized proposals to extend incumbent terms by two years and push the next local elections to November 2028.
He noted that formal bills and budget allocations moving through Congress clearly signal a concerted attempt to delay both critical polls once again.
