City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) DRRM Head Sofia Tongson urged the public to refrain from premature accusations regarding the origin of the ₱4.5 million fire in Barangay Lapasan while the Bureau of Fire Protection completes its investigation.
Tongson disclosed that a local family accused of causing the fire was temporarily relocated from the evacuation center for their physical safety following confrontations with affected neighbors.
Authorities are evaluating all potential causes, including reports of a domestic dispute preceding the incident.
