City Mayor Rolando Klarex Uy’s spokesperson, Janboy Actub, clarified that the mayor merely implemented the Ombudsman’s dismissal order against Barangay Pagatpat Captain Achilles Jude Babaran.
The directive stemmed from a pending case dating back to 2017 that had not previously been served. Since the order required immediate enforcement, the mayor sought assistance from the DILG and the city legal office to deliver it to the barangay.
Following this, the number one councilor, Jude Fuentes, formally took his oath before the mayor and assumed the role of barangay captain.
Actub denied political involvement, stressing that the local government was simply fulfilling its obligation to comply with the Ombudsman’s directive.
