Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) expressed disappointment that one year has passed since President Marcos Jr. issued strong words against agencies and officials linked to the flood control scandal, yet no serious progress has been made in the investigation.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Rauf Sissay of BAYAN said corruption has greatly contributed to the country’s slow and unstable economy, worsening the plight of Filipinos.
He explained that misuse of funds for agriculture, education, and health services is the reason the nation has failed to achieve genuine development.
Sissay stressed that the supposed upper-middle income status reported by the World Bank does not reflect the harsh realities of ordinary Filipinos.
