Farmers in Don Carlos, Bukidnon have expressed frustration over what they describe as the slow and wasteful process of securing land titles from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
Pat Jared V. Pangantihon of the Philippine Movement for Climate Justice Mindanao revealed that despite their persistent follow-ups, the farmers have yet to receive their Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA).
Instead, the group continues to face repeated revalidations, which they argue only prolong the recognition of legitimate farmers.Because of this situation, the farmers have set up camp outside the DAR office in Manila to demonstrate their growing hopelessness.
Their protest coincided with the government’s celebration of the 38th anniversary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.
The group is demanding urgent action and resolution from the agency, stressing that some lands have already been awarded to others even though they have been cultivating them for decades.
