The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) continues its voter registration activities despite growing proposals to postpone the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections scheduled for November.

According to COMELEC Region 10 Director Renato Magbutay, the office remains focused on voter registration, which will run until May 18 before the formal preparations for the elections begin.

After this period, training sessions for electoral boards and inspections of schools designated as polling centers will commence to ensure proper lighting and facilities.

Following these steps, the filing of certificates of candidacy and the official campaign period will take place as part of the commission’s election timeline.

Magbutay emphasized that preparations are moving forward as planned, since no official changes to the election date have been announced. He also urged qualified voters to register within the given timeframe to secure their participation in the upcoming polls.
