The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Misamis Oriental is proceeding with administrative preparations for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on November 2, despite speculation regarding a potential postponement.
Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Carlito Ravelo clarified that Comelec is bound by existing statutory mandates to execute the election calendar unless formally amended by law.
Ravelo noted that any power to postpone or reschedule elections rests exclusively with Congress through legislation, affirming that local election offices will fulfill their operational duties.
