Misamis Oriental Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Carlito Ravelo stated that time is running short for Congress to pass legislation postponing the scheduled November Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
Atty. Ravelo explained that amending election schedules requires a lengthy legislative process across both houses of Congress, where approximately 11 distinct bills must be harmonized.
He noted that any consolidated bill must clear a bicameral conference committee and receive presidential approval before taking effect, making a last-minute schedule revision increasingly difficult.
