The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Region 10 assured the public that it is prepared to execute two distinct electoral exercises in 2028 if Congress postpones the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) to coincide with the presidential election year.

COMELEC Region 10 Director Atty. Renato Magbutay confirmed that the agency has previously administered national elections in May followed by local BSKE polls in October within the same calendar year.

Atty. Magbutay clarified that simultaneous single-day voting is technically unfeasible because national elections utilize automated voting systems, whereas BSKE operations rely on manual balloting.

He called on Congress to allocate sufficient operational funding to ensure seamless logistical preparations for both elections.
