Councilor Eric Salcedo, Chairman of the Committee on Public Utilities, plans to submit a resolution on September 7 opposing the entry of Green GSM Taxi units into Cagayan de Oro.
Salcedo noted that while local operators have consistently raised concerns, the fleet began initial operations unexpectedly.
The councilor urged the LTFRB Central Office to review local road capacity, noting Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy has denied terminal permits to the foreign operator.
While city plans accommodate 200 local replacement taxis, Salcedo cautioned that adding 300 to over a thousand new commercial units could worsen city traffic congestion.
