Partidong Manggagawa Chairperson Ka Rene Magtubo warned that a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) obtained by Manila employers against the regional wage hike sets a troubling precedent for regional wage boards nationwide.
Magtubo noted that the court injunction disrupted ongoing public consultations and petitions for wage adjustments outside Metro Manila, leaving workers vulnerable to rising fuel and commodity prices.
He explained that the legal challenge stalls wage boards from taking swift action on urgent economic conditions.
Magtubo expressed hope that once courts revoke the injunction, regional wage boards can resume hearings on worker petitions for fair wage increases.
