The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) declared the 2026 provincial budget of Misamis Oriental inoperative due to technical and legal inconsistencies in the ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP).
Special Assistant to the Governor Celso Abucejo explained that the DBM identified discrepancies between the approved ₱3.3-billion expenditure breakdown and the province’s Annual Investment Plan (AIP).
Consequently, the provincial government re-enacted its 2025 budget of ₱5.8 billion effective mid-September.
Abucejo assured the public that all municipal disbursements and essential service expenditures executed from January through September remain legal and fully consummated.
