Atty. Raymond Batu, legal counsel for the DDS Sara All Confederation, condemned the Senate Impeachment Court’s proposal to convene amicus curiae experts regarding the voting threshold for Vice President Sara Duterte’s trial.

Batu argued that Presiding Officer Chiz Escudero’s July 6, 2026 ruling establishing a 16-vote threshold remains final and non-appealable.

He warned that introducing external opinions would create procedural instability, emphasizing that constitutional interpretation rests solely with the Supreme Court rather than the Senate.
