The Cagayan de Oro local government unit strongly debunked a circulating deepfake video claiming Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy banned Muslims from entering the city.
Acting City Information Officer Jade Adeser clarified that the graphics and statements attributed to the mayor were completely fabricated using artificial intelligence.
The official stressed that the city holds deep respect for the Muslim community, noting that Muslim personnel actively serve in local traffic management, particularly in the Cogon market area.
Additionally, the city government observed the recent holiday commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad to demonstrate continued solidarity.
