The Department of Education Division of Cagayan de Oro has ordered stricter security measures in schools through a Division Memorandum.
Ryan Blanco of DRRM DepEd CDO announced that bag inspections will be strictly implemented for everyone entering and exiting school gates.
He assured that inspections will be conducted in a way that avoids inconveniencing parents and visitors.
Blanco asked for understanding, emphasizing that the policy is solely for the safety of children following the recent incident in Tacloban City.
The agency has also coordinated with the police to ensure their presence in schools as added protection for students.
