Brizza Rosales, Executive Director of the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL), alongside representatives from NAMFREL, urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to veto legislation attempting to postpone the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
Rosales noted that repeated election postponements violate democratic standards and conflict with Supreme Court rulings on regular electoral cycles.
Watchdogs emphasized that proceeding with the scheduled polls is essential to safeguarding voters’ constitutional right to local representation.
