NAMFREL MisOr-CDO Chapter Representative Nestor Banuag maintained that national cost-cutting argument is insufficient justification to postpone the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.
Banuag stated that election funding should not be viewed as an unnecessary expense, but rather as a critical investment in local democratic governance for the next four years.
He emphasized that regular elections protect constitutional voting rights and drive community progress.
Banuag added that delaying the polls causes greater fiscal inefficiency, as COMELEC has already expended public resources on election preparations.
