Former DND Secretary Norberto Gonzales criticized the administration’s national security framework regarding the West Philippine Sea, describing current strategy under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. as lacking clear direction.
Gonzales recalled that previous administrations relied on a formal Cabinet Cluster on National Security involving the DND and Department of Foreign Affairs to ensure unified policy statements.
He urged the Office of the President to establish a single, coherent national security stance amid ongoing maritime challenges.
