Gabriela Youth continues its effort to pass the SOGIE Equality Bill, which they have long been advocating.
According to Allyssa Ancheta, representative of Gabriela Youth, this bill is considered the longest-running measure in Congress, having been processed since the year 2000.
For nearly 20 years, the proposal has been lobbied, even reaching the third and final reading in Congress in past sessions. However, Ancheta revealed that it remained a low priority in the Senate, which prevented full deliberation.
At present, the group is once again working to revive its lobbying in Congress so that the bill can go through the entire legislative process toward passage.
