Kyle Chester Javier Cotacte of Akbayan Youth expressed his deep concern regarding the current state of the Senate. In his observation, the deliberations of senators nowadays seem to have turned into a sitcom or a television series.
Furthermore, Cotacte lamented the loss of integrity and the high level of respect previously demonstrated by lawmakers like Nene Pimentel, Tito Guingona, and TG Guingona.
Instead of discussing vital legislation such as the cheaper medicines law and the local government code, Cotacte observed the proliferation of fake news and public manipulation.
Therefore, he calls for a return to accountability and proper conduct in debates within the Senate so that it will not bring shame and ruin the dignity of the institution.
