The Northern Mindanao Chess team successfully brought home a medal despite facing fierce competition in the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa.
According to Coach Engr. Christy Abesamis, they faced a massive challenge because their opponents in the secondary girls category were titled players and members of the national team.
Even though they were unable to secure a gold medal, their camp remains grateful for the high level of skill demonstrated by the athletes.
The coach also confirmed that the athletes of Team Northern Mindanao Chess will proceed to the National Tournament this coming June 3 to 7.
Finally, Coach Abesamis left a reminder for the athletes to just keep learning and never lose hope despite any setbacks they may encounter.
