The International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) Philippines expressed concern about the possible granting of extraterritorial jurisdiction to Americans through the Pax Silica project.
According to spokesperson Arnold Padilla, this move under the Marcos Jr. administration reflects what he described as extreme subservience to U.S. interests.
Padilla explained that the establishment of military bases and missile systems, alongside a security economic zone for industrial and war production, poses threats to the country’s sovereignty and peace.
He stressed that such projects do not serve the national interest of Filipinos but instead cater to foreign needs. ILPS fears that these developments are preparing the Philippines to be drawn into America’s wars.
