Atty. Samson So Tan of the Liceo de Cagayan University College of Law believes that the effective solution to successive school shootings is not playing the blame game, but rather gaining a deep understanding of the root problem.
According to the legal expert, authorities must thoroughly examine and clarify why a minor committed a crime instead of hastily drafting reactive laws.
He explained that rather than yielding to fear and overreaction, the underlying causes of the incidents should be studied to formulate more effective measures and policies. Doing so will better prevent similar tragedies from recurring in schools in the future.
