Cobbie Jan Canda, chairperson of Kabataan Partylist Southern Mindanao, made it clear that a mere apology from the authorities is not enough regarding the controversial list of activists released by the PNP Cateel, Davao Region.

Instead, they stand firm on their call for accountability over the incident, asserting that it is a clear violation of their human rights.

According to Canda’s statement, posting their faces and information poses a threat and makes them vulnerable to red-tagging, vilification, and other forms of harassment in the future.

She stated that this is a widespread mechanism targeted at activists, which is why their group plans to file a case before the Commission on Human Rights and coordinate with their legal team for other appropriate legal actions.

It can be noted that the incident has left deep trauma and anxiety not only for the victims but also for their respective families.
