The Kabataan Partylist said it was not surprised by Vice President Sara Duterte’s absence on the first day of her impeachment trial in the Senate.
Cobbie Jan Canda of the group noted that Duterte has consistently failed to appear in past hearings.
He emphasized that despite her absence, the impeachment process will continue, including the presentation of the legal basis for the articles of impeachment.
Canda added that their group is more focused on mobilizing public action to hold corrupt officials accountable.
