The urban poor group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (KADAMAY) strengthened its call for genuine national freedom during its recently held Independence Day rally.

According to Mimi Doringo of the group, the United States continues to exert control over the actions of the current administration, which she said contributes to the persistence of corruption in government.

She added that the country must put an end to three major problems—imperialism, bureaucrat capitalism, and feudalism—in order to achieve true welfare for the people.

Despite the passage of 128 years since independence, the group continues to demand genuine freedom for the Philippines.Doringo reminded all Filipinos that strong unity and sustained struggle are necessary to attain real national freedom in the years to come.
