The group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (KADAMAY) continues to call for the overthrow of the country’s “three plagues” following Independence Day.
Mimi Doringo of the group stated that this action is necessary because the nation has yet to achieve true independence, even after 128 years.
She further explained that these “three plagues” consist of imperialism, bureaucrat-capitalism, and feudalism, which she claims continue to cause suffering for the Filipino people.
Consequently, she issued a call to hold government officials accountable for corruption and the misappropriation of funds meant for basic services such as health, education, and housing.
Furthermore, the group emphasized that the government should not rely on loans from banks controlled by imperialist entities.
