Legal expert Atty. Dexter Precioso stated that public officers are statutorily required to divest from private business holdings that present potential conflicts of interest with their official functions.
Addressing public inquiries regarding Vice President Sara Duterte’s prior commercial interests in Davao City, Precioso noted that administrative delays in processing corporate transfer documents often result in lingering public records despite actual operational severance.
He emphasized that full compliance with statutory divestment rules remains mandatory for constitutional officers.
