Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Northern Mindanao Coordinator Roland Cruz confirmed that the Makabayan Bloc voted against the proposed 2027 National Budget in the House of Representatives.
Cruz stated that the negative vote protests continuous budget allocations toward discretionary pork barrel items and infrastructure funds at the expense of public education.
He added that proposed salary and benefit adjustments for public school educators remain insufficient amid rising living costs, calling on labor organizations to advocate for public sector wage increases.
