The MASA Sara Duterte Alliance (MASADA) federation has called for an increased budgetary allocation for Mindanao to help stabilize the national economy and address historical funding disparities.
Group convenor and former Undersecretary Benito Ranque stated that unlike Luzon, which faces 20 to 30 typhoons annually, Mindanao experiences fewer typhoons while contributing approximately 17 percent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Ranque emphasized that additional national investment would enable the region to scale up production and serve as the primary agricultural and food supply hub during national disasters.
