The Amihan National Federation of Peasant Women insisted that farmers affected by recent typhoons require direct financial compensation rather than basic relief assistance.
Secretary General Cathy Estavillo criticized the ₱5,000 UPLIFT cash program, pointing out its restrictive requirements that mandate machine ownership to qualify.
She stated that the requested ₱50,000 compensation package covers 50 to 70 percent of production costs, giving families the necessary capital to recover from accumulated debt.
Estavillo added that alongside financial aid, government officials must be held accountable for the misuse of flood control funds.
