Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS) has implemented strict bag inspections for its nearly 4,000 students to prevent contraband from entering the campus.
Principal Melende Catid said the initiative began last year, following the inspection practices used in airports, seaports, and malls. Security measures include opening students’ bags at entrances to intercept lighters, vapes, cigarettes, and knives before they enter.
The school also coordinates with the Cagayan de Oro police, who regularly schedule officers to be on standby at the campus.
Despite challenges, Principal Catid expressed that the measures are running smoothly and ensure the protection of everyone inside the school.
