Transformation among national leaders is difficult if they do not personally experience the struggles of ordinary citizens by living among them.
This was emphasized by IP Rights Defender Wilson C. Amad, who longs for leaders with compassion similar to former President Ramon Magsaysay.
He explained that officials should try eating guava shoots and living with fishermen to truly feel the hardships endured by the people.
However, he expressed sadness that citizens today have become mere spectators of anomalies and misconduct by some officials, while many continue to suffer. Amad believes that real change can only happen if leaders genuinely live in the conditions of the poor.
