New York City authorities raised security protocols to maximum alert levels ahead of the 25th anniversary commemoration of the September 11 terrorist attacks amid heightened global threat assessments and geopolitical tensions.

Reporting from New York, Bombo International Correspondent Cheerie Ann Lechonsito stated that law enforcement agencies established extensive street closures and perimeter checkpoints near Ground Zero to secure the public and attending dignitaries, including former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.

Federal law enforcement personnel were also deployed to prominent places of worship across the city as a preventive safety measure during solemn observances honoring the 2,977 victims.
