The Police Regional Office 10 confirmed the neutralization of notorious Masaronay Group leader Khalid Masaronay during an armed encounter in Salvador, Lanao del Norte last week.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, PRO-10 spokesperson Police Major Joan Navarro stated that the operation was carried out to serve a warrant of arrest against the accused for nine serious murder and frustrated murder cases.
However, the suspect fought back and returned fire, forcing operatives to defend themselves and take him down.
Recovered at the crime scene were an M16 rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, and approximately 150 grams of suspected shabu valued at an estimated ₱1,002,000.
